A public charter school is a publicly funded, tuition-free school that operates with greater flexibility than a traditional district school, allowing us to design programs and approaches that best serve our students and community. We are still fully accountable to the state of Florida and held to the same academic standards as every other public school. Think of us as a public school with a distinct vision: at PBMA, that means rigorous academics, maritime-rooted learning, whole-child support, and a tight-knit community where every student is known by name.
Yes, we have a school uniform policy. Uniform details and purchasing information can be found at pbma.deco-apparel.com.
Palm Beach Maritime Academy was founded by the Palm Beach Maritime Museum, and that founding spirit of curiosity, hands-on discovery, and connection to the natural world shapes everything we do. Maritime science at PBMA means our students are not just reading about ecosystems in a textbook. They are tagging sharks with University of Miami researchers, spending nights at a marine lab in Key Largo, visiting the Jupiter Lighthouse, and exploring Florida's waterways firsthand. These experiences build critical thinking, scientific literacy, and a genuine sense of wonder that follows our scholars long after graduation.
We are glad you asked! At Palm Beach Maritime Academy, your student will find small classes averaging 18–20 students, individualized instruction, Cambridge AICE coursework, dual enrollment with Palm Beach State College, full-time licensed mental health counselors, a robust athletics program, and defining experiences that bring learning to life. Our Elementary Campus holds a B school rating and our Middle/High School Campus holds a C rating. We are a 7-time consecutive Palm Beach County Choice Award winner and Cognia Accredited. Most importantly, your child will be known by name, challenged to grow, and supported every step of the way from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Yes, and we are just getting started. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, PBMA athletes will compete against traditional schools and be eligible for state titles for the first time. We offer flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and more. Athletics at PBMA are about more than competition. They build character, teamwork, and school pride, and we believe every student who wants to play deserves a place on the field.
We built our school around the whole child, not just the school day. At PBMA, students have access to full-time licensed mental health counselors on both campuses, free vision screenings and glasses, free dental care, free breakfast and lunch, a weekend and summer food program, and evidence-based social-emotional learning built into every school week. Our staff holds weekly team meetings to review each student's progress and make sure no one falls through the cracks. When your child is here, they are truly taken care of.
Yes to both. We accept Early Learning Coalition (ELC) funding, and we offer before and after care from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM, including supper, at one of the lowest rates in the area. Whether your family needs early drop-off, late pickup, or both, we have you covered. Contact our office at (561) 578-5700 for current rates and to get your student enrolled in the program.
We do. We welcome transfer students and accept enrollments throughout the school year as seats are available. If your student is not thriving where they are, it is never too late to make a change.
