Palm Beach Maritime Academy

About Us

Palm Beach Maritime Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving students from Kindergarten through 12th grade across two campuses in Lantana, Florida. With a focus on maritime studies and marine science, the academy was founded in January 2000 to inspire students through hands-on experiences with the ocean and its ecosystems.

Our curriculum is enriched through engaging field trips and interactive science activities. Elementary students visit destinations such as Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, Loxahatchee Nature Center, Jupiter Lighthouse, Sandoway Discovery Center, and Loggerhead Marinelife Center. These experiences offer early exposure to marine life and environmental stewardship.

Upper School students participate in unique excursions including Marine Lab in the Florida Keys, shark tagging with the University of Florida, Everglades exploration, snorkeling trips, and coastal cleanups—deepening their understanding of marine biology and conservation.

Through these immersive experiences, students gain firsthand knowledge about ocean ecosystems, endangered species, coral reefs, and the critical relationship between humans and the marine environment. Classroom learning is further enhanced with hands-on experiments in genetics, the five senses, properties of matter, natural resources, and decomposition.

Our Middle School offers intensive and advanced academic tracks with small class sizes. At the High School level, students have access to Advanced Placement courses, dual enrollment with Palm Beach State College, and early college admissions. For two consecutive years, our high school students ranked in the top 3% in Florida for science achievement.

Campus security includes full-time guards and advanced camera systems. We provide free transportation via a fleet of eight brand-new buses, as well as before- and after-school care and summer camp programs.

The Lower School (Grades K–5) is located at 1518 West Lantana Road, and the Upper School (Grades 6–12) is located at 600 S. East Coast Avenue, both in Lantana.
